Wasted Week

Didn’t get much accomplished this week.  Everybody was hunkered down most of the week because of the bombings.  My meeting scheduled for Monday was moved to Friday and then was canceled.  Then my phone up and offed itself.  I’m supposed to get a replacement on Monday.  But for now I am incommunicado with everyone here.  (No one checks email.)  On Wednesday I went to a party and celebrated Bastille Day– and made a bunch of contacts that might be useful.  Got eaten by mosquitoes when I slept on my hosts’ floor.  Did some online research with my new internet connection, so that was useful.  Bought some books that are only available here.

Tomorrow I am going to grab a minibus to Entebbe and check it out.  Haven’t left the Kampala area yet, so that will be interesting.

LATE UPDATE: Woke up to a torrential downpour.  A thunderstorm in the dry season!  Travel plans canceled!  Me with nothing to wear.
